Utopia Drive Weekend

Get your engines ready for a GREAT weekend of driving in the Texas hill country!

For the 2017 Annual Utopia Weekend event, we'll be home-based out of Kerrville for the weekend. If you've never had the pleasure of driving these roads west of San Antonio, I can tell you they are the best you'll find in Texas.

We'd be happy to have you join us for any or all parts of the weekend! If this will be your first event with the club, you could not have picked a better one. If you're a seasoned veteran, Kathryn and I are looking forward to seeing you again soon!

I'll save you the trouble of reading through the entire itinerary - yes, we will drive 100% of the 3 Sisters.

Friday, October 13th:

We have a reservation at Grape Juice in Kerrville (623 Water St, Kerrville, TX 78028) from 6:30pm - 8pm.

If your travel plans allow for it, please join us for a casual dinner, drinks, or whatever you're in the mood for. We'll be there at 6:30pm but consider this a come and go as you please event. The restaurant is planning to be flexible with us and is expecting that not everyone will arrive exactly at the same time, so if you don't arrive in town till a little later, you can still drop by and hang out and get a bite to eat or a glass of wine.
Saturday, October 14th:

We'll meet at the Walmart at 1216 Junction Hwy in Kerrville around 8am. (Get directions)

Don't worry, there's a Starbucks right across the street. I estimate we'll depart around 8:30am.

From there we'll drive west and hit the entire length of RM335 and about 1/3 of RM 337. Lunch will be around noon at Neal's Cafe in Concan.

NOTE: This is a lot of miles to cover but it's worth it. We will stop twice (Mountain Home and Leakey) between Kerrville and lunch.

After lunch we'll proceed back to Kerrville via RM 336. I estimate we'll arrive back in Kerrville around 3:30pm. Plenty of time for a nap. If you prefer a more direct route back, that's also an option, but RM336 is by far my favorite of the 3 Sisters. Not to be missed, in my opinion.

We have a dinner reservation at Cowboy Steakhouse in Kerrville at 7pm and we'd love for you'd to join us.

If you're looking for something a little more low-key, there are plenty of fast food and casual dining restaurants within 5 miles of most of the hotels in the area.

Sunday, October 15th:

We'll meet at the River Hills Mall at 200 Sidney Baker St South in Kerrville at 8:30am, planning to depart around 9am.

We'll take TX 16 south towards Medina, and then head West picking up the remainder of RM337 through Vanderpool and back to Leakey for a break.


We'll then head back in through to Ingram for lunch at the Encore Restaurant & Patio around 11:45. For those interested, there is a photo op at the restaurant with Texas's very own Stone Henge.

For both days, plan to arrive "Full, Full and Empty". That is, full tank of gas, full stomach, and empty bladder.

We will be using radios over the course of the weekend, so if you have a set of FRS/GMRS radios, bring them along. We will use channel 2 sub code 3.
