Twisty roads, breathtaking scenery, and endangered species .... what more could you ask from a Tejas Chapter event? After tech sessions and a concours, it's time to hit the open road in September for a pure drive that will take us through the Balcones Canyonlands, a significant portion of which will skirt the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge in Travis, Burnet, and Williamson counties.
	This refuge protects the nesting habitats of the golden-cheeked warbler and the black-capped vireo, as well as six endangered invertebrate species. Ranch and county roads, changes in elevation and twisties, cattle guards and open range await, as canyon walls echo the throaty rumblings of our passing. more info

- Meet at the parking lot next to the water tower at Cabela's in Buda at 9:00. (get directions) - Drivers meeting at 9:20. - Depart at 9:30. A Shell station is directly across IH-35 from Cabela's for your pre-drive needs. There will be two rest stops on the drive, both at sizable convenience stores.
We will arrive for lunch at Dahlia Café in Liberty Hill, Texas. (more info)
	Their menu offers homemade selections, including meat loaf, chicken fried steak with jalapeno cream gravy, burgers, sandwiches and wraps, salads, and, of course, their famous desserts.
After lunch, everyone is free to return home by their best route. Liberty Hill is 14 miles from either IH-35 to the east or US 281 to the west. Or you're welcome to split the difference and wind your way home through the many back roads.
