Greetings Tejas Chapter Members:

As many of you veterans of our Spring event already know, we have another Street Survival event coming up soon. As before, this event is presented in conjunction with Hill Country Region of Porsche Club of America. The event is on Saturday, October 5th, 2019. The event will be held at the ACC Public Safety Training Center in Kyle, TX.

If you're not familiar with this program, Street Survival is a teen driving school sponsored by Tire Rack and run by the BMW CCA Foundation. The program focuses on car control and how to react in emergency situations, and goes into a level of detail far beyond what is covered in traditional drivers' ed programs. You can read about it in detail about the program on streetsurvival.org

In order to make the event a success, we need some additional volunteer help. There's basically 2 kinds of jobs we need done. First is being a coach. This entails taking a brief online orientation, and being able to ride in a car with (as well as communicate effectively with) a teenager. Our baseline requirement for being a coach is that you have some performance driving experience. The curriculum is very well prepared for you, and your primary role is to get your student to push their comfort zone and to help explain the why the car is behaving as it is in the scenarios.

The second kind of help we need is basic logistics. We have many cones as part of the exercises, and those cones are going to get knocked over. We need people to help pick them up. We also need people to distributed bottled water, direct traffic, check in students, etc.

If you can help, please email Lenny Zwik directly at [email protected] and he'll provide the details to you on how you can contribute.

This is a great cause and also a great time for all involved. I'll be out there and I hope to see you as well.

Thanks in advance,

Josh Butts
